Situation

The California Tourism board had the idea to promote holidays to the British public, through a film festival. Alongside this, they would design and publish a book to be handed out to each person who attended the festival. This publication would contain a guide to some of the greatest movies to be filmed in California.

Strategy

Brought on board for my simple typographic styling, I intended to use basic, clean illustrations to support the equally basic type. The intention was to create a stylistic but simple type logo that wouldn't get lost in or distract from the location maps. The only condition was the use of Gothom due to licensing reasons.

Result

The resulting logos satisfied both mine and the client's intentions, reflecting each state area well, using appropriate supporting illustrations and a similar type and layout approach to each, culminating in a clean, consistent theme across all of the map logos.
